Modern Language Department Project Days

At the end of the last school year, the teachers from the Modern Language Department organized 3 project days with the theme: International Cooking. On the first day, we started by raising  awareness about the effects fast food have on our health and how good eating habits, like preparing your own food, is cheaper, tastier and healthier. Students then had to go to the grocery store to buy the ingredients needed for their recipes. On the 17 of June in the afternoon we focused on German cakes: it was a lot of fun to bake Erdbeertorte and Kalter Hund (homemade has much less sugar!).

On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to welcome Stefan and Francois from Senegal. We learned a lot about the Senegalese culture (music, history and agriculture). Our African guest brought raw peanuts and we created tasty dishes with them. In the afternoon, the students had a go at Vietnamese cooking, namely by making spring rolls. On the final day, French food was the star of the morning with delicious quiches of all kinds served with salad and healthy smoothies, and in the afternoon, yummy Spanish “madgalenas”. We had a lot of fun during those 3 days and even discovered future chefs! Students were delighted with the project and teachers were impressed with everyone’s participation and enthusiasm.

A huge thanks goes to all teachers involved:
