Grade 4 Exit Point Natural Disasters

Grade 4 invited the school and parents to come and visit the exhibition they created around natural disasters. This project is the exit point for their latest IPC unit, ‘What a Wonderful World’. They have looked at different environments and regions around the world; how to classify different types of rocks and soils; learned about local and global environmental issues; and how to use different types of maps to find information. As the students were most interested in volcanoes, hurricanes and tsunamis among the topics in this unit, the teaching staff followed their interest and explored these with them in more detail.

For their exit point students created installations around a natural disaster with posters, art works and video narration they composed and recorded themselves. They organized the classroom like a real gallery or museum with a reception and a waiting room for visitors waiting for a spot in the individual booths.

The installation design was especially impressive! Well done Grade 4 students and staff. Thank you for inviting us.
