The Theory of Knowledge Exhibition

Grade 11 Theory of Knowledge students took part in an exhibition in the final week of the 2020/21 school year. This is a new assessment item and is worth one-third of the students’ grade in TOK. The exhibition enables students to demonstrate their understanding of key TOK concepts and how they apply to the real world, in the form of artefacts which are displayed in physical or virtual format and supported with a written commentary. Students were required to focus on prompts such as:

  • Can new knowledge change established values or beliefs?
  • Is bias inevitable in the production of knowledge?
  • How can we know that current knowledge is an improvement upon past knowledge?

On the whole, the students displayed excellent critical thinking and reflection skills and were very keen to discuss their ideas with fellow students, along with visiting teachers and grade 10 students. They should be congratulated for their efforts.
