The history of LIS and indeed of Leipzig itself is a testament to what can be achieved when a few people have a vision and take a courageous step. 30 years ago, our founders could see the need – then and in the future – for a school that would enrich the landscape of education in the Region.
In 1992 Leipzig International School opened its doors to 3 students. In a villa that was still being renovated around them, they ate their inaugural breakfast with their new teacher.
In 1999 we hit the 100th student mark, welcoming Paula from Finnland.
In this, our 30th Anniversary year, we have reached the bench mark of 1000 students. Our thousandth student is Laura, who recently joined the LIS community from Spain with her three siblings and parents. Like all our new families, we welcome Laura and her family to our learning community.
We are so proud to be part of your educational journey and can’t wait to see what amazing things you accomplish. We are also proud to see our community growing and thriving.
