On 11 September 2017, roadworks performed by the City of Leipzig, Leipzig Waterworks (KWL), and the Leipzig public transportation company (LVB) for the rebuilding of a large section of Karl-Heine-Strasse, including reconstruction of the “Plagwitzer Brücke” bridge will begin.
Construction will be on the stretch of road between Ferdinand-Lassalle-Strasse and Erich-Zeigner-Allee. Karl-Heine-Strasse will therefore be completely blocked until the roadworks are finished. Traffic coming from direction of the city centre on Käthe-Kollwitz-Strasse will not be able to reach Karl-Heine-Strasse, but will be redirected over Marschnerstr., Edvard-Grieg-Allee, and Karl-Tauchnitz-Str. (see map).
Traffic coming from Karl-Heine-Str. will be redirected over Gießerstraße and Erich-Zeigner-Str.
Furthermore, tram No. 14 will also be redirected, with no replacement service provided. The tram stops at Merseburger Str. and Gießerstraße will not be served. Busses No. 60 (Naumburger Str. stop) and No. 74 (Felsenkeller stop) will operate as usual.
We know that this poses a great inconvenience to many of our families and staff. Of necessity, parents will need to plan in more time for travelling to our Kindergarten. Regular updates and further information may be found on the City of Leipzig website (available in German only):
