We recognize that the Early Years are a very important stage in the development of children. They help your child get ready for school as well as prepare them for their future learning and successes. We believe that children’s Early Years experiences should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs. Our programmes encourage children to learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
The Early Years Programme will offer an exciting early education experience for children in a vibrant and stimulating learning environment. Through the Early Years Foundation Stage, in tandem with the Saxon Early Years Frameworks, children develop the skills and attitudes they need for childhood and beyond. We adopt a holistic approach to learning, in which play is an essential part of the process, through which we build on the interests of the children themselves. Additionally, we apply the HighScope approach, which enhances each young child’s growth in foundational academics as well as in the social-emotional, physical and creative areas of development. There is an emphasis on adult-child interaction and a carefully designed learning environment which will strengthen the children’s initiative and self-reliance. The classes are conducted by a collaborative bilingual teaching team composed of qualified early childhood experts. Each group is led by an English speaking and a German speaking pedagogue following the one-teacher-one-language principle.
In the Early Years 3 classes, there will be a clear progression of experiences that will build on the foundation laid in Early Years 1 and Early Years 2. Each class will have a qualified and certified teacher planning experiences that will further enhance the children’s cognitive, physical social and emotional development. Play is still an important part of our philosophy, and engaging environments will be provided to encourage sustained and meaningful play. In Early Years 3, English is the language of instruction and communication, setting the stage for the children’s transition to Leipzig International School’s Grade One.
