Exam Results 2021
IB Results: Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
In the face of some huge challenges, our Class of 2021 cohort have achieved remarkable results, the best in LIS’s IB Diploma history. The results were outstanding, with 97.6% of students gaining the full Diploma. The average score was a whopping 35.4 – our best ever – with 12 students gaining 40+ points (28.6%), 6 of those gaining 42+ (converting to a 1.0 Abitur) – 14.3%. 47.6% of our students gained 36+ points, with 81.0% gaining 30+ points. 57.1% of students gained a Bilingual Diploma.
Valedictorian Sarah F. gained the top performance with 45 points, alongside Tiziana, who gained the same points score. Other students who gained 40+ points included Mika W., Maximilian, Jade, Florentina, Chau, Ben, Beatrice, Anastasia, Sarah M. and Wilson.
However, so many of our students not only achieved excellent grades, but outperformed expectations and should be extremely proud of themselves.
Furthermore, all students who applied for the HZB (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) were successful, and all students made their UCAS (Universities & Colleges Admissions Service) offers, too. This represents a truly outstanding achievement.
As the Principal of the Secondary School, I am extremely proud of all of the students, and of all of the teachers without whose hard work and expertise this would not have been possible.
To all parents and guardians of the Class of 2021, thank you for your support of your children and of the school, and I hope you enjoy this richly deserved success.

IGCSE Results 2021
IGCSE courses, designed and examined by the University of Cambridge, are taken by students throughout the English-speaking world and in many international and bilingual schools beyond it. At LIS, students follow a two-year IGCSE course during Grades 9 and 10.
Candidates obtain grades from A* down to G in each subject. Grades A* to C are considered passing grades.
To have their IGCSE performance recognised in Germany as the equivalent of the Realschulabschluss, students must obtain a pass grade (C or above) in the five core subjects. These are German, another Language, Mathematics, a Science, and a Humanities subject (i.e. Geography, History).
Of all of the 348 entries (i.e. for every grade awarded), 25.9 % of them were A*, 43.7% were A*-A, 62.6% were A*-B, and 84.9% were A*-C. Two students gained the full 9 A*’s, 3 others gained all A* and A grades, and 3 other students gained all A* and A grades with just one course with a lower grade.
We are very proud of the results and we are confident that the vast majority will be able to meet the requirements of the IB Diploma and/or we will be able to organise an individual programme for them for the coming years.
As always, we celebrate outstanding academic achievements. This year, five students – Emilia, Annik, Léa, Maren, and Laura – gained all A* and A grades. Laura and Maren gained a perfect record of all (nine) A* grades. Congratulations to these five students on this outstanding achievement.
