LEIPZIG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Grades 11-12 Subject Specialisation and Independent Learning

Students have a choice of pathway into higher education through the traditional academic IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the vocational IB Career-Related Programme (IBCP).

The IBDP requires students to complete a core of Theory of Knowledge; an original piece of research called an Extended Essay, in a subject of their choice; and a varied programme involving Creativity, Action and Service. Around this core they choose 6 subjects (3 at Higher Level) to gain the diploma.

The IBCP requires students to complete a core of Approaches to Learning, Language Development and  Community and Service. They also complete a Reflective Project, probably based on their experiences of the various internships they complete in the programme. In addition, they take IB certificate courses in English, Mathematics and Business and Management with their IBDP peers and a BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council)  Level 3 certificate in either ICT or Art and Design.
