This year, we are once again supporting a school in Leipzig for children with severe multiple disabilities that is unique in many ways: many of these children, often with an immigrant background, had initially not been offered a place at school. To quickly remedy the situation, the city of Leipzig opened the school on Zweenfurther Straße. However, the building on Zweenfurther Straße requires extensive renovation, meaning that the move cannot take place for several years.
The 70 students are currently housed in a very old building on Riebeckstraße, which is only equipped with a few pieces of furniture and offers no additional learning materials or toys – this is essential, especially for children with special needs.
The next step will be taken in February 2025, when the school will move to mobile classrooms on Franzosenallee, where the children will learn for several years until the renovated school building on Zweenfurther Straße is completed.
With your support, we would like to give these children a little joy and fulfil some of their Christmas wishes.
