IB Results 2026

In July, our Class of 2026 received their IB Diploma results. At Leipzig International School — Leipzig’s only international school — we are incredibly proud of every single one of them.

The Results

88% of our Class of 2026 passed the IB Diploma Programme — well above the global average. The 65 student cohort’s average points score was 32.7. Seven students scored over 40 points, with five achieving 42 or above — the equivalent of a 1.0 Abitur, the highest grade attainable in the German school system.

35 students were awarded the bilingual diploma, recognising those who completed and achieved a top grade in two languages from the IBDP language and literature courses. In a school as genuinely multilingual as ours — and as genuinely diverse as Leipzig itself — that number says something.

More than a Score

These are excellent results. But they are only part of the picture.

What no points total can capture is what two years of the IB Diploma actually does to a person. The Theory of Knowledge essay that forces you to question what you think you know. The Extended Essay that teaches you what intellectual rigour really feels like — and what it costs. The moments of doubt, and the choice to keep going anyway.

The IB Diploma is not simply a qualification. It is an experience that shapes character. Every student who completes it emerges more capable, more resilient, more able to think independently and act with purpose. In the truest sense of what we believe education is for — they leave more ready to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.

They leave, in other words, as citizens of the world.

You did something genuinely hard. You did it with courage, with curiosity and with the kind of commitment that cannot be taught only chosen. We hope you feel as proud of yourselves as we are of you.
