LIS China Exchange 2026: Leipzig Visit

What a week!

This August, LIS welcomed 18 students from China for a week of school life, sightseeing, family time and plenty of opportunities to step outside familiar routines.

Our guests stayed with LIS host families, joined lessons with student buddies and experienced everyday life in Leipzig. Together, students explored the city, visited the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, spent time in Saxon Switzerland and took part in everything from art and cooking to basketball, table tennis and cooking for the whole hosting and visiting group.

But the exchange was about much more than the programme itself. It was about communicating when you do not always have the same words, being curious about another culture, adapting to entirely new situations and discovering what we have in common across cultural divides.

A huge thank you goes to our host families, who opened their homes and made our visitors part of family life for the week, and to everyone across the LIS community who helped organise, accompany and support the visit. From the first welcome to the final farewell party, this really was a community effort.
And this is only the first half of the adventure: in October, our LIS students will travel to China for the return visit.
