Let voices be heard (a musical theatre festival):
In autumn 1989 Leipzigers took to the streets in the thousands and their protests eventually led to the crumbling of the Berlin Wall. Now affectionately called the “City of Heroes”, Leipzig is also home to some of the Western world’s most renowned composers and musicians. Regardless of weather, musicians take to the streets and people flock to listen. This festival will prepare us to participate in this most fantastic of traditions by letting our voices be heard throughout the city. But of what shall we sing? Let 100 voices decide as we grab this chance to interact with the past to become agents in the present. Yes, the city has a rich musical heritage but how will we engage with it and make it relevant today?
