KMK will recognise 2020 IB Diploma without exams missed due to COVID-19

Due to recent recognition confirmation provided by the German Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK), students are now eligible to apply for university admission with their May 2020 DP Diplomas.

The arrival of Covid-19 has necessitated numerous changes and produced great uncertainties in the past weeks and months. One such uncertainty for us as a school centered around the IBO’s (International Baccalaureate Organisation) decision to cancel all examinations for the May 2020 session. Questions inevitably arose about how this would impact students’ applications to higher education. Many countries and universities have already put out clarifying statements on this matter.

It is therefore excellent news, that the IBO has officially announced that the German Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK) will accept the 2020 IB Diploma without the exams and based on the criteria established in the agreement of March 2019. We are certain that this will come as very welcome news to parents and students of the 2020 graduating class with an interest in applying to study in Germany. You can find the explanation here by clicking on the Germany link and an official statement here.
