The first two years in which our LIS Parent Association has been actively working are drawing to a close. According to the Bylaws it is time to elect a new leadership team to take the reins from the founding members who have established a strong basis on which to build. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the three women who have given so much to the school and our community.
Studies show what teachers instinctively know: “Regardless of family income or background, students whose parents are INVOLVED in their schooling are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school.” Have an impact, not just on the school but on your child’s future, join the PA Leadership team and help us create stronger bonds between home and school for the whole community. The deadline for candidate submissions is Friday 21 May 2021.
- We are calling on all LIS parents, who would also like to contribute productively to the school, to put themselves forward as candidates for the PA Leadership election.
- As all LIS parents are automatically members of the PA, we encourage you to take part in the voting process, either as a candidate or by casting your vote.
- The purpose of the PA is to support school objectives through volunteering, fundraising and events, encourage social interaction and service, enliven the LIS community culture and furthering good communication between the school and the parent body. We look forward to seeing parents come forward and help continue making the PA a vital and rewarding part of school life. This good work can only continue with your engagement and energy.
- The PA is not intended to replace the Room Parent or Parent Representative work currently being done by parents in close cooperation with teachers and principals.
Structure:
The PA leadership team will consist of the following elected positions:
– three Co-Chair Officers (ideally one for every school section)
– one Treasurer
In addition, any LIS parents are welcome to establish committees around specific topics, projects or events in cooperation with the Leadership Team.

If you are interested in taking up a leadership position in the PA please send the candidate form along with a photo of yourself to marketing@lis.school. You can also submit the candidate form in the school’s marketing department (loft office). Candidate forms can be downloaded from our website (see download box).
The deadline for candidate submissions is Friday 21 May 2021.
We will introduce all interested candidates in a document via Parent Portal and the LIS website by Friday 28 May 2021.
Election:
Voting will then take place online from 00:01 Monday 11 June 2021 until 23:59 Thursday 14 June 2021. All LIS parents will receive a one-time code via email with which they will be able to cast their vote anonymously, in our online voting portal, for their top three candidates. Further instructions will be sent out closer to the time.
The overall top four candidates will be voted in as Three Co-Chair Officer and Treasurer. In order to support school events that require extensive planning and preparation, the PA leadership team will be voted in for a term of one year. The Three Co-Chairs will assume the main responsibilities for the current year by gathering all information needed to assume their responsibilities during the following year.
