First LIS Fall Fair brings joy, creativity & community support
As the days grow shorter and the leaves take on vibrant shades of red and gold, our community gathered to celebrate the beauty of autumn at the LIS Fall Fair 2024. There was excitement in the air as volunteers and organizers came together to create a festive atmosphere full of fun and giving.
The GreenTeam set up a bustling farmers’ market, featuring a variety of handmade goods such as plants, soaps, jams, chutneys, candles, and more – all created by members of our school community. The proceeds from these items went toward supporting the GreenTeam’s sustainability efforts.
Our talented art students launched an exciting project, designing custom bee-print stamps. Families had the chance to personalize their own T-shirts with these unique bee prints.
To add to the fun, we set up some lovely arts and craft tables where students and their families could make small autumn decorations to take home. The themed decorations with mushrooms and hedgehogs were the stars of the day. Ms Judith from Stoffpost also brought her sewing machine, offering students a chance to create their own upcycled products, an activity that was both popular and inspiring.
Contributing to the cause, our dedicated AbiBall team sold a selection of cakes and biscuits to raise funds for the upcoming graduation ball. It was great to see so many contribute to the cause and enjoy the treats.
The afternoon was filled with smiles and laughter as families enjoyed time together outdoors. The sense of community was strong, and the event’s impact was even greater. The €600 raised from the farmers’ market was donated to local organizations, including BUNDspechte Leipzig, Igelfreunde Leipzig und Umgebung e.V. and the Tierschutzverein Borna e.V. – Heim für Tiere Oellschütz.
Some of our primary school students performed cool dances and songs that they had learned with Ms Annie in music class. Well done everyone!
At LIS, we find joy in coming together, celebrating the season and giving back. We look forward to making more memories at next year’s Fall Fair!
