Our IB Psychology students recently stepped into the world of early childhood development with a visit to the LIS Kindergarten. The purpose was to give students the opportunity to observe in real life cognitive, social and identity development in young children.
The IB students spent some time with different age groups doing observation and (inevitably) interacting with our curious little people who were thrilled to have lots of new faces to play with.

After the observation session, the students met with Laura Venezia, our Kindergarten Principal, whose extensive expertise in early childhood gave our students more insight into some of their questions. Laura highlighted the importance of wellbeing and emotional regulation, a cornerstone of our Kindergarten programme. She also spoke about the cultural sensitivity embedded in these practices, ensuring every child feels supported and understood in our diverse community.
This collaboration beautifully reflects the LIS spirit—different age groups learning with and from each other, creating a connected and caring environment. This recent addition to our IB subject options with IB Psychology curriculum is an exciting subject offering great opportunities for critical thinking, real-world application and a deep appreciation for our shared humanity.
