Leipzig International School recently had the honor of hosting the GISST U14 Girls Football Tournament, an event that brought together young athletes from nine international schools. Over two action-packed days (15th and 16th November 2024), the students demonstrated remarkable skill, sportsmanship and teamwork, making the tournament a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The participating schools, hailing from various cities, competed fiercely on the pitch, showcasing the high level of talent within the GISST community. Each match was filled with energy and determination, as the players gave their all to secure victory for their teams. From nail-biting penalty shootouts to beautifully coordinated team goals, the tournament had it all, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats.
Our LIS community played a vital role in making this event a success. Parents volunteered their time and effort to prepare and sell an array of delicious food and beverages for the athletes and guests. The refreshment stand became a hub of activity, offering everything from warm snacks to refreshing drinks, all served with a smile. Their contributions not only fueled the players but also created a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for all visitors.
The tournament also highlighted the importance of collaboration and community spirit. Students, staff, and parents came together to ensure that the event ran smoothly. The spirit of teamwork extended beyond the field, reflecting the values we cherish at LIS.
While the competition was fierce, the true highlight of the tournament was the sense of camaraderie and mutual respect shared by all participants. Players and coaches supported one another, celebrating victories and learning from defeats. It was a reminder that sports are not just about winning but also about building connections and fostering personal growth.
We are incredibly proud of our LIS U14 girls team for their effort, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. They put on an amazing performance and played some wonderful football winning both their games. Finally, they ended up finishing 7th overall.
