World Bee Day has become one of the most cherished events in the LIS calendar. Celebrated now for the fourth time, the event continues to grow each year, bringing our community together in a meaningful and joyful way. It is not only a fun gathering, but also a powerful fundraiser organized by the LIS Green Team. All proceeds go to local environmental organizations and initiatives that are doing crucial work in and around Leipzig.
This year, we proudly raised €1,200, which was donated as follows:
- €300 to NABU Leipzig (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union)
- €400 to NABU Regionalgruppe „Im Erlbachtal“ Topfseifersdorf
- €300 to BUND Regionalgruppe Leipzig
- €100 to Leipzig gießt!
- €100 to Geowerkstatt Leipzig e.V.
As always, the event was a collaborative effort involving students, parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends of LIS.
We were proud to host a wide range of informational and interactive booths, including:

Each stand was well visited throughout the day. Our community members had the chance to engage in meaningful conversations, take part in educational quizzes, and join in hands-on activities such as building insect hotels, making beeswax candles, tasting fresh honey, or watering trees.
The celebration was beautifully rounded off by our talented student musicians from both the Primary and Secondary Schools. Their enthusiasm, skill, and passion brought wonderful energy to the event and made the atmosphere even more special.
