Learning to be a citizen of the world

Leipzig International School offers first-class international education in English for children from different backgrounds, supports the local community and promotes intercultural understanding.

The Primary School at LIS follows the International Primary Curriculum, and the Secondary School the Cambridge Secondary 1 and IGCSE Programme. The gateway to higher education is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. This IBDP qualifies students to study at leading universities in Germany and all around the world.

A fantastic After-School Programme (Hort) for Primary School students at Leipzig International School is offered in the mornings from 07:00 to 08:25 and after school from 15:00 to 17:00. These activities are offered by our teaching staff, parents or external providers. They vary to some degree from school year to school year. There are no extra costs for this as it is already covered by the school fees.

Also in Secondary School LIS offers an attractive range of activities in addition to the academic programme. This enrichment programme provides additional opportunities for social and group interaction. There is a variety of activities available covering a wide spectrum of interests - from sports to woodworks to music to drama ... just to name a few!

Through our school’s cooperation with qualified substitute teachers, we also ensure there are no cancelled classes and that all lessons are guaranteed.

We want our students to grow into smart, confident and responsible young people, so we consistently provide them with opportunities to practice teamwork and leadership at school. In our international community, students learn respect for other cultures and traditions and develop an appreciation of the value of diversity. There are special project days and events throughout the year, which are often celebrations of diversity.

Parents are kept regularly informed about their child’s learning and progress at LIS.
Leipzig International School focuses on developing students’ individual skills through a clear, curriculum-based structure. It is our aim to lead students to academic outcomes that open the doors to their institute of higher education of choice.

The school is divided into three sections, with student support services spread across all three sections.
