At LIK we have crafted a comprehensive distance learning package for our families. Now we would like your help in evaluating our offering, so we can continue to learn and improve.
The cornerstone of our offering is the activity pack, with tasks designed for children to be completed at home. Another element is a growing treasure trove of videos and learning materials created by the LIK team and shared via our online learning tools, Tapestry and Seesaw. To round out the offering, we recently developed opportunities for live video conference sessions.
All of these efforts serve to connect the LIK educators with our children and families. In turn, children, with help from mom and dad, can post their special moments on Tapestry and Seesaw to share with others. Parents can connect with one another by sending messages via the comment sections.
With an increase of children registered for emergency care, educators are thinking of more ways to bring children and families together despite physical divides. The children at home are working through the activity packs on the same themes as the children in the center. The children in emergency care will soon begin to make individual videos, write or draw letters to share, and take photos of their work. Educators will upload these for our friends at home to see via Tapestry or Seesaw. Families at home are encouraged to also upload and post photos, videos, writing, drawings and art work for via these methods. This way group educators can share these moments with the children present at LIK.
With your help, we would now like to evaluate our distance learning programme. We would love to know how your family used the three options at home, if at all.
