On behalf of the Performing Arts team, welcome back to what we are planning to be a year full of opportunities to participate, try out, and express yourself through the performing arts, whether that be music, drama or dance; all of these disciplines naturally lead to showcasing our students’ talents and achievements and I am excited to be the coordinator for this programme, after having led the music department for ten years.
Our first goal is to make art together and a large variety of opportunities are available for our students: from banging out some groovy rhythms in the percussion ensemble to back-flips and moon-walks in the dance workshops! We are planning for a busy first few months with two drama presentations, a number of informal concerts culminating in the Christmas shows at the Schaubühne Lindenfels, a wonderful performance space which has become our traditional Christmas venue over a number of years now. After the new year, our highlight will be showcasing all of the performing arts’ disciplines together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the school.
This term, there is a diverse range of enrichment activities on offer, which are all-inclusive and tailored to the abilities of our students. Please ask me or Miss Flanagan if you would like to know more about the offers below.
In addition to these group activities, we offer a wide variety of instrumental lessons which are taught by hand-picked professionals after school and conveniently take place in our school building. If you are interested, please contact me directly.
Stories of performing arts’ learning will be available to you on the Observer in the coming months.
Get involved! Providing students opportunities to perform, giving them moments to shine, sharing the experience with others and gaining self-esteem when preparing for a show which they will cherish and remember for a long time is our passion.
