Enrichment

In addition to the academic programme, Leipzig International School offers attractive enrichment opportunities that allow our learners to engage in a whole day of exploration in and outside of the classroom. This can be seen in our various student activities, sporting competitions, the work of our student councils and other such projects and events.

  • Leadership opportunities in Student Councils, Model UN etc.
  • Astronomy Club, Robotics, Contemporary Dance etc.
  • Holiday Camps – Surfing, Skiing Trips
  • Global and local engagement

Performing Arts

The performing arts play an enormously important role in supporting our learners in the development of their creative abilities. While enabling them to develop creative enthusiasm, we also teach language and communication skills and help them to communicate confidently and effectively with others.

We stage at least one major drama production each year and also offer students opportunities for smaller performances. We perform regular musicals in Primary and High School. The musical highlight of the year is our own special LIS Christmas concert.

Visual Arts

By learning to understand and interpret images (here as an umbrella term that includes painting, drawing, architecture, photography, film, electronic image design or graffiti) our learners develop image expertise that enables them to take part in diverse forms of art and culture from past and present, but also to take a critical and creative perception of their personal environment and everyday reality.

Amongst others we offer freehand drawing, painting, photo club and printing techniques.

GISST – Sports

The Athletics Department supports the vision of Leipzig International School by helping student-athletes to develop skills and attributes valuable in becoming citizens of the world. We are a full member of GISST (German International School Sports Tournament) aiming to provide students from German International Schools with the opportunities for participation in quality sporting activities on a competitive basis.

Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Cross Country and Track and Field are offered during the school year. Training sessions are held twice a week after school. Games and tournaments mostly take place on Saturdays and occasionally on weekdays.
